From November 3 2018 to March 31 2019 Palazzo Bonocore hosts the exhibition "The masterpieces of Amedeo Modigliani and the works of his friends" and "Modigliani Multimedia Experience, les femmes"
An exciting appointment with the art of Amedeo Modigliani: this is what is proposed, from November 3 2018 to March 31 2019 Palazzo Bonocore of Palermo. On display are in fact the exceptional paintings of the exhibition "The masterpieces of Amedeo Modigliani and the works of his friends", together with the profound suggestions of the exhibition "Modigliaini Multimedia Experience, les femmes".
Modigliani's masterpieces such as "Jeanne" and "Hannalore" arrive in Palermo for the first time, exhibited in the "secret room" of Palazzo Bonocore together with paintings by colleagues and friends of the painter, from Maurice Utrillo's View of Paris to the Still Life with ace of paintings by Fernand Léger. On the inauguration day, Saturday 3 November, an artistic show is also scheduled with projections of photographic images and videomapping with artistic lighting in Piazza Pretoria.
The richness of this exhibition and artistic initiative is fully part of the events of Palermo Capital of Culture (2018). To create it, the Amedeo Modigliani Institute, in preparation for the celebrations for the centenary of the death of the Livorno artist (1920-2020).
he artistic director Alberto D'Atanasio tells: «The "secret room" of the friends of Amedeo Modigliani wants to recreate the magical space and the suggestions that united the minds and moved the inspirations of the protagonists of the early twentieth century with the works of Giovanni Fattori, who was among the first masters of Amedeo, Maurice Utrillo, friend and confidant companion of fights and drinks, Fernand Léger, one of the fathers of Cubism, painter and art theorist, friend who argued about Modigliani's strange attitudes. In this room stands the portrait of Hannelore, a woman with a marked destiny that Modiglianiritrasse for her damned memory of woman and mother to be eternal. And then the portrait of Jeanne painted on a sheet, which will tell of another important friend, Paul Alexandre, a military doctor who gave the Italian painter some sheets of Moroccan troops enlisted in the French army, because, despite the need, the genius of the the artist could continue to trace his mark and leave the ancient trace of Beauty indelible in history».
The exhibition "Modigliani Experience, les femmes" recounts the life of Amedeo Modigliani through the portraits of his inspiring muses, including Jeanne Hébuterne. The result is an impetuous but brilliant artist with a personality full of lights and shadows, fundamental for understanding in depth his works. The multimedia contents are developed thanks to the help of modern technologies.
Modigliani's works are digitally reproduced at very high definition with absolute respect for the dimensions and colors of the original (each digitized painting was reproduced on a special backlit film in its original format and in a very high quality, with a resolution of up to 1200 dpi). Also on show are 90 photos and period documents, often unpublished, relating to the life of the great Italian artist, as well as videos, films, compositing animations and apps.
The originality and innovative aspect of the exhibition is enhanced by an original experience with Oculus. It is in fact possible to wear a hyper-technological viewer, which with a dedicated App brings the visitor directly into the picture, to move freely within it. It is an exciting virtual reality experience created through the use of the Oculus Samsung Gear, to make the visit to the exhibition even more spectacular and immersive
This great cultural event had the accession of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the patronage of the Sicilian Region, the Municipality of Palermo, the University of Palermo and the Assembly of the Sicilian Region. The Navigare s.r.l. organization manages the circuitry of the "concept" of the exhibition in Italy and abroad on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Amedeo Modigliani's death.
